What the World Needs

dressportraitWhile accompanying my son Alex on a recent band trip to New York City, we had the opportunity to meet a retired FDNY fire chief who gave a very heartfelt and moving motivational talk to our group of 175 young adults. His talk was very fitting, just prior to our compelling visit to Ground Zero on a rainy, overcast morning.

Our group was so moved by his conversation that the Lake Shore Central High School Band Boosters decided to bring him to Western New York to share his message.

Chief Dan Daly responded to Ground Zero on September 11, 2001. He now spends his time sharing the true legacy of 9/11 – a story of courage, compassion and the power of the indomitable human spirit.

His life’s work now centers on helping US Military Service Men & Women who have returned home with traumatic brain injuries. His mission is to inspire citizens of all ages to embrace and embody the values that make us a great nation, and most of all – to never forget those who have sacrificed so much.

Daly created a “buddy program” with AVBI that partners returning injured veterans with local firefighters to offer them comfort, friendship and brotherhood as they work through their struggles back at home.

Chief Daly will speak at a dinner and concert on Monday-May 18th at the Lake Shore Central High School cafeteria and auditorium.

The dinner starts at 6pm. You can meet and greet the chief at 7pm and the concert starts at 7:30pm followed by Chief Daly’s presentation at 8pm. Tickets are $20 per person for all four pieces of the event, or $10 per person if you can only attend the concert and presentation.

Proceeds from the event will benefit America’s Heroes:
